FALLING IN LOVE
From the book "Letters to my Son"
By: Kent Nerburn

It is a mystery why we fall in love.

It is a mystery how it happens. It is a mystery when it comes. It is a mystery why some love grows and it is a mystery why some love fails.

You can analyze the mystery and look for reasons and causes, but you will never do anymore than take the life out of the experience. Just as life itself is more than the sum of the bones and muscles and electrical impulses in the body, love is more than the sum of interests and attractions and commonalities that two people share. And just as life is a gift that comes and goes in its own time, so too, the coming of love must be taken as an unfathomable gift that cannot be questioned in its ways.

Sometimes, hopefully at least once in your life - the gift of love will come to you in full flower and you will take hold of it and celebrate it in all inexpressible beauty. This is the dream we all share. More often, it will come and take hold of you, celebrate you for a brief moment, then move on.

When this happens to young people, they do often to try to grasp the love and hold it to them, refusing to see that it is a gift that is freely given and a gift that just as freely, moves away. When they fall out of love, or the person they love feels the spirit of love leaving, they try desperately to reclaim the love that is lost rather than accepting the gift for what it was, then moving on.

They want answers where there are no answers. They want to know what is wrong with them that make the other person no longer love them, or they try to get their lover to change, thinking that if some small things were different, love would bloom again. They blame their circumstances and say that if they go far away and start a new life together, their love will grow.

They try to give meaning to what has happened. But there is no meaning beyond the love itself, and until they accept its own mysterious ways; they live in a sea of misery.

You need to know this about love, and to accept it. You need to treat what it brings you with kindness. If you find yourself in love with someone who doesn't love you, be gentle with yourself. There is nothing wrong with you. Love just didn't choose to rest in the other person's heart.

If you find someone else in love with you and you don't love him/her, feel honored that love came and called at your door, but refuse the gift that you cannot return. Do not take advantage; do not cause pain. How you deal with love is how you deal with you, and all our hearts feel the same pains and joys, even if our lives are different.

If you fall in love with another, and he falls in love with you, then love chooses to leave, do not try to reclaim or to assess blame. Let it go. There is a reason and there is a meaning. You will know in time.

Remember that you don't choose love. Love chooses you. All you can do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes to your life. Feel the way it fills you to overflowing, then reach out and give it away. Give it back to the person who brought it alive in you. Give it to others who deem it poor in spirit. Give it to the world around you in any way you can.

This is where many lovers go wrong. Having been so long without love, they understand love only as a need. They see their hearts as empty places that will be filled by love, and they begin to look at love as something that flows to them rather than from them.

The first blush of new love is filled to overflowing, but as their love cools, they revert to seeing their love as a need. They cease to be someone who generates love and instead become someone who seeks love. They forget that the secret of love is that it is a gift, and that it can be made to grow only by giving it away.

Remember this, and keep it in your heart. Love has its own time, its own reasons, and its own coming and going. You cannot bribe or coerce it, or reason it into staying. You can only embrace it when it arrives and give it away when it comes to you. But if it chooses to leave from your heart or from the heart of your lover, there is nothing you can do and there is nothing you should do. Love has always been and always will be a mystery. Be glad that it came for a moment in your life.

If you keep your heart open, it will come again...

many times i've tried to post a decent entry here, but i always find myself staring blankly at the Create Post page without any good idea on my mind. i do not know what to write about. O_o i don't know what to say except for "i love illumina". cheesy, eh? it's actually sad because that's all i can say. O_o and that phrase alone won't make a very interesting blog entry, will it? but nonetheless, i'll still say it: LOVE KO KAYO!!! weee. C=

anyway, my purpose for logging into blogger tonight is to post some of my favorite illumina photos here. i put them in the slide show shown below.

that's all. bow. C=
i miss you!

Backtrack 2005

Hi Illumina!
I am a member of the Illuminate Team. But what exactly is my contribution to the improvement and/or development of this site? Aside from some comments in the tagboard, none. So what prompted me to post now? To really feel that I am a part of the Illumina Team! :) But I have to say boredom was my prime motivation. Boredom never fails. :)
I was going through my old e-mail account and found an e-mail I wrote in third year high school when we still had batch2006@yahoogroups.com, I thought this one's gonna bring a lot of memories. And hopefully good ones. :D
***
I wish things were a little bit slower; Impedimentia! so we can cherish each and every moment we share, each expensive cracker we buy from the canteen, each six-petaled santan picked, every flag ceremony attended, every free period wasted on crammed assignments and every little misunderstandings we inevitably have.

Impedimentia! I wish to slow things down so we can think twice or thrice when making decisions. Or so I can do many things in an Internet cafe within an hour. Or so I can do two lab repots in one period.

Oh how I wish..

To stay with you, Batch2006, forever... Ay! One lifetime nalang. Hehe.

Impedimentia!

I can't believe I cared for Batch2006 this much back then. Hehe. Seriously. Can you believe how cheesy I was? But this is what I know, what I wrote was sincere and I always wish to bespend this lifetime with you all and the next and the next and the next. :D Hehe.
Have a great kick-ass time Illumina!
Cheers,
Jacques

Blog Entry N0. 1

This is probably new to you because I don't normally write this way when I try to post anything here. My usual posts start off in a very enthusiastic way, with different font colors and alternating uppercase-lowercase letters. But this time, it's gonna be different. This time I'm going to write like I'm Jacques or Tal or Ciara who are avid bloggers. This time, I'm going to write a blog entry. (well, this is blogspot.com after all..) I think a blog entry like this would be a first for Illuminate. Or at least the very first for me in Illuminate. Oh well, I'm already running out of good words for the intro (so soon?) so I'm going to start with my entry na. (konyotic.. haha)

One typical night, I got tired of forcing myself to fall asleep so I turned myself instead into listening the early morning radio show of Magic 89.9. It's a pretty cool radio station by the way and it's the mother station of Killer Bee 89.1 in Davao. I've been listening to it actually since August and since then, it's starting to become an evening habit to listen to their 9pm-12mn show. I suggest you try listening to it yourself whenever you get the chance. I swear its going to give you a good laugh before you go to sleep! I even sent a shoutout to Illumina once through their textline! Okay, I already went off track there for promoting Magic 89.9!

Anyways, going back to the entry, that typical night using the radio feature of my phone, i put the earpieces of my headset to each ear and decided to listen myself off to sleep. Instead of slow songs that made you doze off, they were playing the ones that tried to wake you up more! While the radio was being helpful on my quest to getting a good night's sleep, what else could I do but to listen to it na lang. (konyotic again! haha) I liked the songs being played. The people who were requesting seemed to know my taste in music. But while I was listening through the night, there's this one song that had put me in deep thought. Coming across this song seemed to bring back old memories.

Four years you think for sure, That's all you've got to endure. It made me remember that time when we ran across that patch of green grass afraid of getting caught. Then when you graduste, Ya take a look around and you say "Hey wait!". About that time when we laid down the field and stared at the sky sharing stories of what happened in class earlier that day... (mushy) The whole damned world is just as obsessed, With who's the best dressed and who's having sex. About that time when we played patintero until the line reached the canteen... Nothing changes but the faces, the names and the trends, High School never ends! While listening to the song, it's like I was having my own personal Powerpoint presentation playing in my head with the slides being pictures of you and me, of all of us during that amazing 4 years of our lives! I'd like to share this song with you too. And I hope that while you're listening along, you'll have your version of a Powerpoint presentation playing in your mind with your own slides of High School. The title is High School Never Ends! ENJOY!
